Add subtitles to your video

Put the words spoken in your video on screen without typing them out. Generate subtitles from the audio, check them, and export a video with the subtitles drawn in.

Add subtitles

Start with a free plan. Free MP4 exports carry a watermark.
SRT and VTT downloads require a paid plan.

Subtitles burned into the video

Subtitles that travel with the video

When subtitles are burned in, they are part of the picture, so they show on every app, chat and screen the video is shared to, with no subtitle track to switch on. That suits clips that get forwarded and reposted. If a platform lets viewers turn subtitles on and off, a separate SRT or VTT file is the alternative.

How it works

  1. 1

    Open your video

Choose the video in the EasyCap editor and select the language that is spoken. Your footage stays on your device; only the audio is transcribed.

  2. 2

    Review the subtitles

Play the video and read along. Correct any word, merge or split lines, and keep each line short enough to read before the next one appears.

  3. 3

    Export the subtitled video

Pick a plain or styled look and export an MP4 with the subtitles in the frame. Free exports are 1080p with a watermark; paid plans remove it and go up to 2K.

Pick a readable look

Subtitles meant for reading, rather than for show, work best in a plain, high-contrast style. Keep them low in the frame and clear of faces and on-screen text.

Choose the script for your viewers

A Hindi video can carry subtitles in Devanagari, in Roman letters, or in English. Pick the one most of your viewers read comfortably.

Match the frame to the platform

Choose portrait, landscape, square or 4:5 before you export, so the subtitles sit where they will be seen on the platform you are posting to.

Find your language and your look

Explore Hindi captions, Tamil captions, Marathi captions, or browse all supported caption languages. Choose from animated caption templates and check current plans and export options before starting a longer project.

Questions before you start

Do I need to type the subtitles myself?

No. EasyCap transcribes the speech and gives each word a timestamp. You only correct what it got wrong.

Can I turn the subtitles off later?

Not in an MP4 export, because the subtitles are part of the picture. If you need switchable subtitles, download an SRT or VTT file on a paid plan and upload it alongside the video.

Which languages can I add subtitles in?

Hindi, Hinglish and 16 more Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia and Urdu. Each language has its own page with details.

How long can the video be?

EasyCap is built for short videos and clips. The length allowed per video depends on your plan; the pricing page lists the current limits.
